A Hobbit's Day In London

Getting to work

I left the house this morning as usual. But nearly got killed by the local killer as it jumped out from the bushes at me. Luckily they are dumb and it missed me, and I ran for it. Shortly after leaving home, I have to walk on their paths. I don't like it because it's so hard, but I don't have any choice as there is no other way. So I head off to work. I have to avoid the metal monsters, they ride in. I still don't understand why they have them, going around on wheels and leaving behind nasty gases.

I made it past all the metal monsters, and reached the entrance to the worm system. As soon as I get in I feel at home, but first I have to get past the metal traps. This involves buying what they call a ticket, which you then feed into the trap, and it opens. You then have to run quickly through it before it shuts on you. So far I have not seen anyone get caught, but I don't want to be the first. Well again I make it through, and now onto the moving stairs. These looked fierece the first time I saw them, but now I enjoy the ride.

Going all the way down to meet the worms, doesn't take that long. I turn to see the light of the sun for the last time before heading off into the tunnels. This time I have to do as they do, and ride inside a metal monster. After walking a short distance into the tunnels, you come to their tracks, long silver lines that run off into the tunnels. The tunnels here are two large, and easy to be attacked in. I like them when they are smaller, but they like to dig big tunnels. I have to wait now for one of the monsters to come.

Finally it comes along, the first thing you see are its eyes far off down the tunnel. They look like to laterns being carried quickly down the tunnel. When it comes out into this part of the tunnel, you can see it has a flat head, and one of them sits at the front telling it where to go. This is the strange part that makes me feel sick inside. You have to get in and out of the worm through its side. Once it has stopped holes open up and you walk through. Then you can sit down and wait till you get to the tunnel where you want to get off.

Once the worm starts moving, you are inside a tunnel, you can see the walls passing on both sides, and there is nothing else to see. I often stare out looking for other hobbits, or maybe dwarves that might be walking the tunnels, but I never see them, I don't have far to travel before I must get off. I then have to walk to another worm stop and get on another worm. This one then takes me my final stop where I get off, and leave the worm tunnels. As wells as the worms, they have snakes, except these stay above the ground

I leave the worms system, glad to be back in the sun light. Now I have to fight my way past them, lots of them. All of them are fighting to go their own way, and you have to be ready to risk jumping in front of the metal monsters on their roads. They have places, where they display pictures of themselves, one red on which means you should not cross, and another which is green when you can cross. I think it is funny they have drawings of themselves, which they have to watch. After walking a short way I come to the office.

Here is where I work, with them. Its a strange place, made of the stuff you can see through, even the bridges inside are made from it. First you have to climb up to the right level, luckily they have another strange trap, called a lift. First you have to call it by pressing a button. When it comes, it opens up and you have to walk inside and press another button. Then it goes to that level. It talks as well, like them but different, you can tell it's the lift. When it arrives it opens its doors and you get out, before it eats you.

This is where the clear bridge is, which you have to cross to get water. If you don't like heights then don't go across it, its a long way down.

They give us all cards with our pictures on to get in and out of the office. Once I nearly got stuck, because it wouldn't let me out, so now I keep spare food in the office so I will not starve. We hobbits are clever and never get caught out twice. So I am here, now I just have to get to my desk. And that is where I stay until it is time to leave. Well that is the end of this story, I have made it to my desk. Next time I will tell you what I do to catch my lunch.
